For One Hour by ibjennyjenny on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

If just for one hour, I could crawl into his mind
Just one hour to feel what he feels
To see what he sees

With children, you ask them a question and they answer (usually)
With animals we play the guessing game
Sure, we can read their body language well and come to a relatively sure conclusion as to what we believe they are feeling.

But we really don’t know for certain.

What really goes through that mind of theirs?

Love is universal, it’s an easy read, we know they love us, they show this to us so the doubts are gone

But where do they think we are going when we leave the house?
And when we come back with their favorite food, where do you suppose they think we get it? Are we the ultimate hunters in their eyes because we always bring back a meal?
What do they think as we sit in front of a computer screen or television for hours?
Mikey follows me through my day always, where mommy goes, Mikey goes. The looks I get sometimes crack me up but I can’t help but wonder what the thoughts are behind the looks. I wonder how close I am to interpreting them.

Mikey is deaf and sometimes I have even more questions about his thoughts…
Like when I’m dancing around the room…I can hear the music but he can’t and he looks at me strangely at times. LOL So I put him near the speakers so he can feel the vibrations but even then…does he think I am completely crazy?
Silly questions I suppose but how he feels and what he thinks really matter to me.
So yes, just one hour would probably do, maybe I would need more time than that, All I know is that when I see him looking out the window like he is in this photograph, I am convinced that there is depth within this look, which runs much deeper than just bird watching.
