Description

Pura Besakih, a vast complex of 22 temple courts located on the slope of the volcano on a site of more than a kilometer in length. For a week, pilgrims come to the main temple to sacrifice and pray, then guided me through the candi betar, a split gate, and we entered the inner temple court. The sight then I will never forget and Hundreds and hundreds of pilgrims seated and waiting to be blessed by the white-clad priests. Around the square were tables where the pilgrims had placed the offered offerings.
In my memory I can still hear the sounds of the gamelan and the murmuring of the priests and the faithful.
