Friedisch Alphabet by Irolan on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

In the year 1402, Landgrave Friedrig fon Aavaperja, ruling the Landgraviate of Aavaperja, was deeply concerned about the low literacy rate among his subjects. He understood the significant drawbacks of an uneducated populace, both in terms of social stability and missed opportunities for intellectual and cultural enrichment. Recognizing these challenges, he decided to take action to improve literacy and education in his region.

He ordered the first standardization of spelling for Thiudsch, and summoned renowned scholar and linguist Joon fon Klosderdal to create a standardized alphabet to be used for writing the language. Joon designed an alphabet with characters inspired by German Kurrent, Greek, and various manuscripts he once studied, and named the result the "Friedisch Alphabet", after Landgrave Friedrig.

These reforms significantly improved literacy rates in Aavaperja, fostering a well-educated populace and a rich cultural heritage that continues to be celebrated and utilized today. The collaborative efforts of Friedrig and Joon not only addressed immediate educational challenges but also set a foundation for long-term intellectual and cultural growth in the region.

Friedisch is an artlang I created primarily for writing lyrics. I figured I may like to write something at some point, so I created this alphabet.
