Watercolor on Arches cold-pressed 140 lbs, 11" x 15", September 2013.

The multitude of pink buds on this cactus always caught my eye - I've wanted to paint it for years but could never quite get it right. But I'm very pleased with how this turned out. I love the combination of yellow flowers, pink buds and green cacti. Random fact: including both buds and flowers, there are a total of 29 blooms in this painting. No wonder I'm feeling a bit cross-eyed right now!
