Android J-25: Learning about Each Other (Pt.2) by J-T-Baker on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Millie approached the TV to get a closer look. Jayson standing beside her to her left. She looked at the TV and pointed to the center of the figure on the screen. "Jayson is that a heart?" Millie asked. "Yes Ma'am, BioTech has included a heart for the androids. It simulates a human heartbeat. But it functions more as a battery, as I obviously do not have blood." Jayson said. Millie covered her mouth and gasped again. Bill walked up next to her on her right.

"So the heart.....charges the androids? Like a power source?" Bill asked. "Yes, Bill exactly." Jayson said. Millie looked at the TV and pointed to a side angle of Jayson's head. "Young man, what's this?" Millie asked. "Ma'am, that is my brain." Jayson said. Millie covered her mouth and gasped. "Well at least they put yours in the rite place. Bill sits on his." Millie said. Jayson didn't understand the joke. "Bill why are your brains in your backside?" Jayson asked. Bill and Millie laughed. "It's an expression kid. It means I'm stupid." Bill said. Jayson seemed to understand. "Well, you do seem to have some disgruntled emotional responses." Jayson said. Bill just grumbled and muttered to himself.

"Jayson, BioTech has truly accomplished something amazing. However, I have one question." Millie said. "Yes Ma'am, ask away." Jayson said. "Will you.....die?" Millie asked. Jayson interfaced with the TV again and brought up the android aging process.. "Ma'am, the androids will age like humans. However, their lifespan will not be the same as a human. I will not "die" in the way a human does. My internal conciseness and programming can be transferred into another android, or onto a hard drive. So in a sense I am immortal." Jayson said.

But it was the next set of diagrams that frightened both Millie and Bill. It was of an android wearing a military uniform and helmet. Bill and Millie were horrified at what BioTech had created.
"Jayson.....these are soldiers. What in the world is BioTech thinking?" Millie asked."I can assure you that that is not what I am. If that is what you are afraid of. I am designed to protect, not kill." Jayson said. Millie and Bill calmed down a bit. "Kid....are you "equipped" to kill? In other words is that program buried in you somewhere?" Bill asked. Jayson interfaced with the TV again and brought up a diagram of the android weapons systems.
"Bill, BioTech has "equipped" me to defend myself if necessary. My major directive the to protect human life. The programs installed in me are different than ones installed in say the "solider" variant androids. You could say it's my conscience. As you humans would put it." Jayson said. Bill and Millie felt somewhat relief.
"Young man, I think we've seen enough." Millie said. "Agreed." Bill said. Jayson unplugged himself from the laptop. "I think that it is time for bed. We all need to get some sleep." Millie told them.

NOTES: These last two parts gave some "development" into all 3 characters. With Bill and Mille telling Jayson about their children and grandchildren. But also gave them information on just how Jayson was constructed. I like to let the viewer fill in some blanks (some that I missed and some intentional) on things not mentioned. Jayson IS an artificial human, but with him showing the Cobbs just how he was built, it brings him closer to them. Little do they know that BioTech is watching and waiting for their chance to re-capture Jayson.
