Glorfindel and Vanais by Kapriss-Art on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Kapriss I saw the thumbnail for this when I was trying to get to my notifications and thought "ah a new painting!" but when I opened it...lady, you have gone to the next level. Where do I even start? Usually you do not create detailed backgrounds and this time there are architectural features, both close up and in the background and they are really well done so complete congratulations for this effort which adds so much to your setting. The emotion here feels 'big' because of such careful attention to detail, I still am not done looking at the painting because I had to go to sleep, it was late at night when I found this. The books, the pages just being caught up by a breeze that made me think of autumn-time. And then their clothing. Your clothing has always been very skilled but again, this is a new level for you. The texture and detail of Glorfindel's surcoat alone is so, so impressive, as are the many delicate layers of Vanais' gown. Ha ha I want to keep commenting but of course my ISP is being a naughty four letter word and it took the picture away but I did remember that the colors and overall lighting were (I thought) so impressive. Lastly, I loved that you had a lock of Glorfindel's hair obscuring his eye, so that he was and was not a focus of the art work. You have done many, many good paintings but to me you have stepped into a new place with this, and I am so proud of you. This must have taken a real 'time in the zone' and incredible focus to have this vision come out. Applause, lots of applause, and I hope you are doing well <3
