I’m beginning to believe this “experiencing strange things” gene runs in the family. My 13-year-old daughter found my Reddit account and spent an hour last night reading all the stories I’ve shared of my experiences over the years. But then she surprised me and said, “Why didn’t you put any stories about our house in there?” I was more than a little surprised and said, “Because I don’t have any, sugar. I’ve never had anything happen in this house, it’s very quiet.” She snorted and rolled her eyes like any self-respecting 13-year-old girl would do and replied, “Right, Mom – and the footsteps on the stairs every night and the old guy who peeks in at me to see if I’m asleep yet is all in my head.” I froze with my hands full of soap suds from the sink and said, “I’m sorry? What?” She went on to explain that if she was up later than her “bedtime;” which is between 9 – 9:30pm, she’d hear heavy “boot steps” coming up the stairs.
