Basil Wordsworth is an Earth Mage and retired Professor of Runology at the Arcane University of Bellciona. He currently lives in a property just outside Kinlais, where he can perform runological experiments without fear of blowing up the town.

Basil was the lecturer and mentor of Lyrique's father, Zariel. It was Zariel who took over his position at the Arcane University when he retired. Zariel and Saharah named Basil the godfather of their daughter, Lyrique. After Zariel's death, Basil helped Saharah raise Lyrique, caring for her when Saharah was away. Lyrique considers Basil to be family - a grandfather figure who she loves dearly.

To those who've known him a long time, Basil seems almost ageless - however many years pass by, he never appears to grow any older.
