Last semester I picked up an oil painting class. I've always been daunted by acrylic and oil painting, so I avoided doing so at all costs. But when the opportunity came up, I thought why the heck not! I'm here to learn something new, why not give it a shot? And honestly, I'm truly so damn happy that I gave them a shot. Oil painting is actually ridiculously fun and I never thought I'd say that. There's something about the ability to blend, to smooth, to move and to work parts over and over again. Compared to watercolor, where it's almost an unforgiving medium, oils gave me some sort of freedom that I love! This is a piece I did in one of my classes, and I was reaally proud of it! I'm hoping to continue experiemnting and learning oil paintings to see what I can do! I do have a bad habit of trying to paint like watercolour though AHHH MAN!!
