Day 5: Winter

“Isn’t it amazing?” Kikyo caught a snowflake in her hand.

Ren’s gaze shifted to the girl in the fur collared kimono. He knew what she meant, but his mind wandered elsewhere. This was the only birthday he remembered where things didn’t go to complete shit. He glanced down at his new shining gold scarf. It was a present from her earlier that day. Hatsumode wasn’t what he expected, but for the first time he could admit to himself that he liked to spend time with this Asakura girl.

His golden eyes met chocolate and he replied warmly. “Yes, it is.”

This scene. This whole scene is one that I am looking forward to writing in shamanic witch. There is so much with this Hatsumode I don't know where to begin. So first off Ren's birthday is January 1st, so New Years. By this point Ren and Kikyo are more friends then enemies in their frenemy relationship, so Kikyo brings over a birthday gift. Inside is the gold scarf that Ren wears in his travel outfit, which I call his winter outfit. She then asks if they (Ren and Jun) want to go to Hatsumode with her. They agree, and it becomes the first of their "not dates" January 1st, ends up being an important date for them for many reasons other then it being Ren's birthday *wiggles eyebrows*
