New Ride - Gil by KHXhero on DeviantArt (original) (raw)
It was a nice day as Molly, Deema, and Oona were out and about. Suddenly, they hear a car honking. They turned around and what do they see? They see Gil, driving a ...car?! It wasn't a real car. It was one of those cool go karts designed after an actual car. Goby found it in the junkyard, fixed it up, and modified it to look and work like an actual car, and he let Gil test it out. The boy pulled up on the street next to the girls, putting the vehicle in park.
"Hey, guys." Gil said. "Whassup?"
"Hi Gilly." Molly said, a little confused by the car. "What's... going on?"
"Just testing out my new ride." Gil said. "What 'cha think?"
"Wow, it's... uh... interesting." Molly said, still confused, but smiled regardless.
"Where did you get that thing?" Deema asked.
"Me and Goby found it in the junkyard, and we did some modifications to it." Gil said. "I did most of the work myself." Deema raised an eyebrow, knowing the part about him doing most of the work was so untrue since Goby's the expert mechanic.
"Goby did the work, did he." She spoke.
"Yeah, he did." Gil said in a deflated voice.
"What's a modification?" Oona asked.
"A modification is a change or alteration of any object or thing." Nonny said, emerging from the side.
"Yeah, that." Gil said. "Anyway, It's pretty cool. Huh Molly?" The boy gave a cool yet funny smile as he pressed against the gas pedal a couple times, causing it to make those vrrmmm sounds, while the pink-haired girl looked at him.
"Uhhh, yeah... I suppose." Molly said. It seems that Gil was trying to act cool again. He's probably doing it for her or something.
"I think he's trying too hard." Deema whispered to her, and the girls couldn't help but giggle in agreement.
"So, Molly, you wanna go get some ice cream?" Gil asked. "I can drive us there."
"Sure, Gil." Molly said. "But there's no need to drive us there since we're already close to the ice cream shop." She pointed at the ice cream shop right behind them, where the ice cream lady was handing out ice cream to citizens.
"Oh..." Gil said. "Uh, I knew that. Yeah, I totally knew that. Hehe... yeah."
"Ahem..." a voice said, getting the boy's attention. He turned his head to his left and saw someone looking down at him with a raised eyebrow. It was a police officer with brunette hair. It was Officer Miranda, captain of the Bubbletucky Police Department.
"Oh, hello Officer Miranda." Gil said. "Lovely day we're having, aren't we?"
"Son, do you have special permission to operate this vehicle?" Officer Miranda asked.
"Uh, I asked my mom and dad that I was gonna test out this go-kart with Goby, and they said it was ok." Gil said.
"Do you have any written documents of proof that you're eligible to ride this vehicle out in the street?" Officer Miranda asked.
"Eh... No." Gil said as he shook his head, feeling a bit confused... and nervous. The officer sighed.
"Sorry, sonny, but I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the vehicle immediately." Officer Miranda said.
"What?" Gil asked. "Why? I was obeying the traffic laws, and I'm wearing a seat belt!"
"Listen, kid." Officer Miranda explained. "This is a go-kart, and go-karts are forbidden from being driven on the roads."
"She's right." Nonny said. "Go-karts can't meet the legal requirements of the highway traffic act relating to registration, licensing, and the equipment of motor vehicles. Therefore, go-karts can't be used on the streets outside of go-kart tracks." Gil felt annoyed as he heard that. Does he have to know everything? Wait, that's actually a law?
"Seriously?" Gil asked.
"He's serious, kid." Officer Miranda said. "The facts are facts, and the law is the law. Now, out of the vehicle." Gil slumped a bit hearing that.
"Alright, just let me turn it off." Gil said as he reached for the key to turn it off. But the key didn't turn. The key couldn't be turned! What the heck? The key's stuck! Why was the key stuck?! With all his might, he turned it again.
-SNAP-
Gil felt something snap in his fingers. As he lifted his hand up, he saw the ignition key... broken! The key broke off, meaning that part of it was still in the ignition! Suddenly, the go-kart began to shake and rumble... That didn't sound good.
"Uh oh." Gil said. And without warning, the car suddenly revved up and took off down the road like a bullet!
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Gil shouted as the vehicle drove off with him in it, his voice echoing as the car went down so fast. And then...
-CRASH-
The sound of the go-kart crashing into some bushes echoed from afar while Molly, Deema, Oona, and Officer Miranda winced at the sight.
"Gilly!" Molly called out. "Are You Ok?!"
"I'm ok!" Gil called out. "Thank goodness I have the seatbelt on!" Pretty soon, Goby came running down to the scene.
"Hey, did you guys see Gil?" Goby asked.
"Yeah, his go-kart went crazy and crashed." Deema said.
"Oh boy." Goby said. "Did the airbag go off?"
-POOF-
A loud poof got their attention as they turned to where Gil zoomed and crashed. That was probably the airbag going off, judging by a certain turbo-charged boy flying up into the air, screaming for life as his friends watched with shock, just as a truck with a pile of mattresses in the back came to a stop hearing the loud sound.
"What was that?" The truck driver asked.
"AAAAAAHHHHHH!" Gil shouted as he was flying right towards them, landing right into the back of the truck on top of the pile of comfy mattresses, making a safe landing. Boy, was he lucky. After a moment, he lifted himself up and felt dizzy.
"Honk, honk, hehehehe..." The boy chuckled and just collapsed back on the mattress. And just like that, the hatch to the back of the truck opened on its own, causing the pile of mattresses to slide down onto the ground with the boy on top. Worried, the natural born leader rushed over to the mattress the boy was on and saw him lying unconscious on it.
"Gilly, are you alright?!" Molly asked as she looked down at him. The boy slowly opened his eyes and looked up at the girl, seeing her beautiful brown eyes and face.
"Yeah..." He said with a dizzy and goofy smile. "I'm good." Molly sighed with relief seeing her friend alive and surprisingly unhurt, while the police officer, and even the truck driver was surprised by this turn of events... and also relieved that the boy was ok.
"Wow, he's a lucky boy." Officer Miranda said.
"That must've been a big airbag." Deema said.
"Yeah, still need to iron out some of the kinks." Goby said.
