Description

the 5th Boondock Saints cover, colored by Rico Renzi , drawn by myself. running out of ways to draw someone pointing a gun at the camera within the confines of this cross-shaped layout- not bitchin, just sayin. there were several rounds of color changes, but i like the relatively desaturated palette and hope we get work in that vein again. had it posted for a minute before being asked to take it down- thanks to everyone who commented in that minute. the sickly skilled and astute Shane White had a couple thoughts i recall. one- what was i trying to say? there's a power dynamic i wanted to get at between the two figs, and although i was thinking in the drew struzan/jp leon collage neighborhood, i concede that dynamic's not clear- good call. two- he felt there was a horizontal space under the tiny figures that screamed out for something. that's a sharp observation too. with all the covers there's a block of text across the bottom, so that's what that space is for, hopefully it gels, but you never know til it's too late. i dunno, strikes and gutters.
