What if he isn't actually asymmetrical, he just simultaneously exists in two separate universes and we can only see the half of his body present in ours?

Meanwhile, Somewhere Else*, there's a mirror-image copy of the portion of him we can see which is his other half and this is the source of his powers and weaknesses.

He can sometimes fly, seemingly supporting himself in midair by climbing on objects only present in one of the two realities he exists in. He can sometimes go indefinitely without seemingly needing to eat, drink or breath if his other half has its own source of calories, water and oxygen. Sometimes he's trapped by seemingly nonexistent blockages and barriers or pursued by seemingly nonexistent enemies. And to the denizens of the other world containing his other half, all of that is also true in reverse.

* Fairyland, the astral plane, hyperspace, a whole different world, etc. His explanations make little sense. Probably best to think of it like :iconjuniorwoodchuck:'s Horror.
