Favorite Headcanon/Lore: Ydinora (I can’t believe I actually drew her…)

So, this is a little mix of both. I am in love with the fact that most of the lore we’ve gotten seems to fall back on Xeris. Even the twins seem to have connections to it. As we went through the seasons, some of us began to pick up of how big a player Xeris was compare to all the other kingdoms. Just as well, all significant artifacts seemed to come from there (The Ephedian Spellbook, Zenavion’s Spellbook, Izira’s Medallion); I couldn’t pass up all the connections.

Ydinora is a long gone kingdom founder by Queen Ydinora, who sought to create a neutral ground for both black crystal users and light magic users. Ydinorans were considered a rebellious kingdom that challenged the crown. In reality, the Queen had every reason to be guarded. She could only imagine the power their spells could unleash. The medallion was originally hers. Due to war, Ydinora was wiped off the map (thus the reason Talia told Iris the spells in the AESB could level realms). This remaining population split into two. Dark magic users founded the clan of Zaterra and the light magic users realigned themselves with the crown and founded the kingdom of Xeris. Ydinora’s medallion gives its user the ability to manipulate time and space, and the Ephedian Royal Council preferred it to stay in the hands of the Xerins over the Zaterrans. It is passed down to the most promising and powerful of royals.

In reality, Izira was given the medallion after her shanila to guard, before Talia was born. Because of Talia’s sensitivity to the supernatural, she’s kept away from the medallion. Her magic is too unpredictable to handle it alone and the council isn’t very fond of that kind of information being let out. Just as well, neither Mephisto or Praxina can control it alone. It would take either a very powerful combination of both light and dark magic (which is why Iris handled it so naturally, its post her corruption so she’s in tune with both), very powerful dark magic (Zenavion, the twins together), or a combination of Xerin and Zaterra magic (The Twins/Daughters of Xeris; Anastasia or Damien). This would also explain why we never see Izira use it, yet she can transform. I don’t think its really her transformation piece.

From a young age, Talia befriended Ydinora, however she does not know her by name. She simply referred to her as the Dragon Lady because of her reptilian features (another favorite HC of mine is that black magic users take on traits of their animal symbols) and the large purple dragon that follows her around named Azar. Depending on Talia’s emotions and strength depends on how clear her communication with her will be. After the fall of Xeris, Talia pushed down her emotions and hardened over time. Because her view of Zaterrans and other black crystal users has been tainted, she can no longer see or communicate with Ydinora, however, the Queen’s spirit continues to watch over her.

That’s the most I can give for now. I’ll be doing a fic about this eventually, but I don’t mind being asked about Ydinora. She’s a huge dork tbh. She’s easily excitable and is very passionate about magic and doing cool illusions.
