Neon Huntress 04 by koalakoker on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Perched on the edge of the cityscape, she gazed into the neon-lit abyss of the urban jungle below. Her sleek, black suit clung to her form like a second skin, catching the faint glow of distant billboards, their lights tracing the sharp lines of her silhouette. The suit’s synthetic material hummed faintly, its embedded circuitry pulsing in rhythm with her heartbeat. Her feline ears—part headset, part antennae—tuned into the murmur of the city, filtering through the cacophony for the one sound she needed to hear.

The night was cool, a mist hanging in the air that blurred the sharp edges of skyscrapers into a sea of glowing orbs. Her eyes, sharp and unyielding, scanned the horizon, each flicker of her gaze betraying a calculation, a silent reckoning with the city that both hunted and sheltered her. Somewhere in this labyrinth of steel and glass was the key to her quest, a thread to unravel the secrets that had brought her to this point.

She took a deep breath, the synthetic leather of her suit creaking softly. The city seemed to pulse beneath her, alive, as if it could sense her presence. Her fingers flexed, ready, the augmented joints in her gloves whirring in quiet anticipation. For a moment, she was still, a shadow against the neon glow, a ghost waiting to step back into the fray.

And then, with a flick of her wrist and a flash of blue light from the tips of her ears, she pushed off the ledge, becoming one with the night.
