On August 6th. 1915. Eastern Front.

Soldiers of the 13th Company of the 226th Infantry Regiment hold their positions at Osowiec fortress on eastern front, till Germans use gas, and attack on fortress, then poisoned Russians made an counter-attack against 12 German battalions (7000 men) and push them back.
Germans were confused and scared by what they saw and retreat.. at that moment there was e.t.a. 100-120 Russian soldiers left.
Many of them died later. The incident got its name from the bloodied, zombie-like appearance of the Russian combatants after they were bombarded with a mixture of poison gases, chlorine and bromide, by the Germans.
