[LoRE] - The Promise by Lachtaube on DeviantArt (original) (raw)
" If you need a friend, don't look to a stranger,
You know in the end, I'll always be there.
And when you're in doubt, and when you're in danger,
Take a look all around, and I'll be there... "
I know I originally uploaded a previous image with this song, but I decided to change it to a more fitting piece for the mood of the image. I think this song fits much better here, for the epilogue when Adrien leaves with the reborn soul of a tokota he met along his journey, along with their gift from Aga... Though it still does have its spooky undertones, at least he doesn't have to worry about Sivoganik anymore. .... Right? ...... right?
Event Spoilers below for the Epilogue. (I am omitting my response from this post--it will be uploaded along with the end of Chapter 3 in due time!) This concludes my art contribution to LoRE!

You give Aippaq your decision. The spirit doesn’t belong with either Sikrinerk or Meelanik. It belongs with you.
Aippaq smiles warmly, nodding. You coax the little spirit towards Aippaq, and with a happy squeak, it obliges, floating forward. It pauses in front of Aippaq, casting one last affectionate glance back at you before bowing its head towards Aippaq.
The spirit and Aippaq gently touch noses, and you watch in awe as the dark, shadowy body of your lonely spirit is slowly consumed with burning white light. The light grows, filling the cavern, and causing you to squeeze your eyes shut.
When the light finally fades and you open your eyes, you find yourself in an empty cavern. Aippaq, Sikrinerk, and Meelanik have all vanished. All that remains in front of you is the form of a tiny white tokota pup. It toddles toward you on unsteady legs, a familiar glint in its eyes.

New pup at your heels, you turn to leave, noticing through the opening of the cave that the labyrinth has vanished, offering you a glimpse of an ordinary forest and the mountains beyond.
The voice of your spirit guide sounds inside your mind for one final goodbye.
"Your journey may be over, Adrien, but you’ll never truly be without me. I’ll always be watching you, always in the corner of your eye and hiding in every shadow. Tell your new young one about me, teach them to fear… not me, but all the other dangers in the world. It may save their life someday. Fear is your oldest friend, after all..."
As you leave Aippaq’s Shrine, you think back on your journey and all the choices you’ve made. With the new tokota pup at your heels, you can’t help but wonder if this is the end of your journey, or simply the beginning of another one.
