While searching for images of a Hindu lotus, I got lost browsing a few new age sites. I saw these symbols on a lot of jewelry and thought they looked pretty and wanted to paint them. So, I spent some time reading up on what they are.
The triple moon and the female figure are a recent symbol that represent the Triple Goddess, which is a Neo-Pagan/Wiccan deity. The three phases of the moon represent three stages of womanhood--maiden, mother, and crone (old lady).

The triple spiral is an ancient Celtic symbol.
