Lilibeth Tarragon by LaEmperatrizMariana on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

One of the characters from my comic 'Project 5.12.5'. She is from the prelude "The Legend of Romero Tarragon" (or by its alternate title "The Tainted Bloodline".) She is technically considered the ancestor of the morphing Tarragon dogs.

Unlike her father, Romero, she is not an inbred, pure-blooded dire wolf, as a result, Lilibeth didn't inherit her father's heart defect. Instead, she inherited his ability to morph into a partial-anthro humanoid.

BIO:

She was born into a pack of gray wolves, sometime in the mid 1830's. Right away, Romero, noticed that she was different than the other pups, that he encountered, due to her unusually long infancy (which he also had.) Romero didn't father anymore more pups afterwards and was chastised for being sterile, by other members of the gray wolf pack.

The relationship between Romero and the pack was usually an icy one, with lots of mistrust, however the only one who seemed to love him was Lilibeth. About 4 years after, Lilibeth's birth, the pack was caught in a drought and after much fighting and debate, they mostly abandoned Romero (since he was their leader and refused to move) except for Lilibeth, who stayed by his side.

This was ultimately a very wise choice for Lilibeth, since a few days later, a few miles away, she and Romero found their former family dead...poisoned by tainted cattle carcasses. There, Romero morphed in front of her eyes and she attempted to do the same...with success. After burying the dead wolves, Romero told Lilibeth that all humans were evil.

Lilibeth refused to believe her father. Several years later, she wondered into the early settlement of La Colonia. A young man, named Ambrosio, saw Lilibeth hungry and offered her food and water (none of which was tainted.) Lilibeth ate and was glad that her father was wrong. However, when she found her father, he was furious at her for what she did. She argued with him, until he collapsed and expired (because of his heart defect). Lilibeth was haunted by the fact she killed her father and promised to avenge his death, by finishing his vendetta.

She returned to La Colonia and was adopted by Ambrosio. Her hope was to gain the humans' trust and kill their leader (who wronged Romero), but after a while, she realized revenge was not worth it and made no further plans to kill the man...

...Later, when she sees Romero again, she is speechless and scared. Deep in her heart, she hoped he would remember her as the little puppy who loved him and never left his side...
