Some mermaid species living at planet Artemis are similar to selkies, but they are not selkies. In reality, they are only scalesless mermaids like species Verisirena phocina (pictures with seals down). The sense of natural adaptation when mermaid tail is without scales is not entirely clear, but it seems that mermaids without scales have fewer parasites, which often hide between the scales, where they are also difficult to find.
