Luna, Celestia! You better watch out! Newcomers up in your turf!

So I had a little problem. I couldn't decide whether I should draw some pretty dresses or some more anthro ponies ... so I made this instead. A double feature of 2 young alicorns. That's right. 2 dresses for the price of 1.

I have used this opportunity to improve upon my alicorn designs. Honestly, when I've drawn anthro alicorns all the way back, they were kinda poor pictures. I never took into acount the fact that alicorns are much MUCH taller than ordinary ponies. This prooved troublesome, especially in Twilight's case. I had trouble fitting her new design into the frame. The tip of her horn is cut-off because well, she's a tall girl now.

This is also the first antro drawing where I don't have to put up mature content tags. It's just ordinary dresses. Safe family-friendly content. Sure, maybe I designed the dresses to signify their ... feminine features ... just a little wee bit. But once again, that's nothing weird or unsafe. Clevage is a feature of many dresses. It's not my fault that alicorns derive their appearance from the magical power they possess. In this case, Twilight has HUGE reserves of magical power but even without it, she's always had a ... LARGER than life personality. She was always BIG on ... eh ... on the planning and reading ... ah ... ALRIGHT ALGRIGHT! SHE HAS BIG T*TS NOW! THERE! I'VE SAID IT!

She's dressed though so it's OK.

Anyway, all this time I have been writing about Twilight, disregarding the fact there are two alicorns. That's very inconsiderate of me. Although I mostly draw canon MLP characters, I do sometimes step into the world of fan-created characters or some of my original entries. This time I chose a character so good, she might as well be a part of canon. I mean, technically she is part of canon, she only took a different turn than in the official show. I am of course talking about the mare, the legend, Nyx.

Now if you don't know who Nyx is I highly recommend you read the Past Sins fan-fiction. An absolute masterpiece of creative writing.

Still, I'll try to give some condensed background on Nyx. You can think of her as basically good Nightmare Moon. That's really who she is. You see there was this cult worshipping Nightmare Moon in Equestria. Those madheads decided they wanted to bring her back so they set up a dark ritual in the Everfree Forest to ivoke her. However, they were interrupted before finishing it and nothing came of it ... or so they thought. They actually managed to bring back Nightmare Moon. There's a bit of a problem though, she's a little helpless foal without any memories or powers.

Twilight managed to find her, scratched up, scared and curled up in a dark bush. Of course, Twilight is no heartless bastards so she took the foal in, despite the fact she figured out the foal's identity. The horn, wings, the black coat and the eyes kinda gave it away. Despite all that, Twilight named her Nyx, cared for her as if she was an ordinary foal. They grew close, esentially becoming a family. Nyx made friends, went to school, had fun but of course, the memories came back to her.

Needless to say, this kinda messed up Nyx's mind. As she became Nightmare Moon, rage overtook her, she absolutelly wiped the floor with the royal sisters and brought about the eternal night. What follows is a wild ride of emotions as Nyx wents back and forth between rage and sadness. She might be Nightmare Moon but that does not remove the love and care Twilight provided her, the friends she made and all the nice memories. Eventually she does face her anger and redeems herself but to learn about the intricate story in its entirety, you'll have to read Past Sins. Trust me, it's well worth your time. I omitted many facts, twists and turns to simplify the plot.

That's Nyx for you. Essentially Nightmare Moon, although I kinda treat her as her own character. Truthfully, she has done enough to redeem herself. There's actually a plethora of different fan-art and fan-stories feauturing her with a number of takes on her. When your fan-fictions spawns other fan-fictions you've difinitely done something good. Here, I've drawn her as The Princess of Vigilance. Considering her heritage, she partially takes on the duties of Luna. Because of this, I gave her my favourite kind of dress: a military gown, complete with a sword and a few armour pieces. A lot of fan-art makes her look a lot like Nightmare Moon but personally, I wanted to give her a different look, to signify that she really is Nyx. Most notably, her mane-style. When she was an ordinary foal, she wore a headband to keep her mane in check, aside from other things to hide her true identity. I've decided to keep it. It does little to constrain her star-lit mane but it gives her her own look. Honestly, I have a hard time imagining Nyx without her trusty headband.

This is actually something I mind with Twilight becoming a princess as well. A lot of fan-art makes her look like Celestia with the same mane-style, accesories and such. I don't like that. Sure, I've made her mane long but the base Twilight mane-style is still there.
