1. Yes, that's not the canon location.
   It's a new and actually really existing one. Ginza Six shopping mall in Tokyo mainly for the rich and famous with brand stores and luxurious articles. So exactly the place Sonoko would go to, I think.
2. So, why not the same location as in canon?
   Well there are two main reasons. One I didn't find a good and logical way to make them go there. The original case is very specific that Kogoro was invited to investigate the fiance of the daughter, who came to visit and introduce him. There's just no reason why Sonoko would be there nor why she would bring the kids along. And Hattori is off investigating Shinichi, so he wouldn't take a small second case like this.
   Second reason is that the case wouldn't really change much with Mary being there. There's not really anything to do for her nor does Ran have a very big role in canon, aside from the whole drama with Shinichi turning back.
   So, I thought it was better to just construct a new case from scratch.
