Many eyes were now on the young Blighted kit. Whisper’s ears flattened as the tension began to rise. The Folk, who was the mother, slithered towards Whisper, her cold, stern stare bearing into Whisper. Whisper’s own eyes met the floor as they couldn’t meet the Lune in the eye. After all, they were why the strange kit in the hospital bed was now blighted with a broken arm. Kristen’s harsh words soon broke the silence, “How could you?! I know you are blighted and need blood, but there are better ways to get it! Now my son is sick because of you!”
Whisper’s soft voice was close to interrupting the raging Lune, but she raised her hand to silence them, “I’m not done with you. Do you not understand what you have done?! Indeed you must since you have a blight yourself! This is serious, and there is always a chance that you could bite someone and they could never recover! What if my son never recovers?! Is that something you want to be weighed on your conscious because you were careless and didn’t take the many programs and resources we have to help you treat your illness?!”
Whisper flinched, and soon, a tear rolled down Whisper’s face. Unable to respond, all they could do was sign, “I’m sorry.” Over and over and over again. Kristen’s previous stern gaze softened, seeing the remorse of the kit. Tom, in his bed, was feeling remorse himself seeing the kit upset and being scolded for an accident. An accident that was his fault in the first place. Tom opened his mouth to speak but hesitated. Did he want to direct the rage back to himself? Whether Tom used integrity or not, the truth would come out as soon as Nana entered the room. “Mrs. Thistle, I am sorry for all of this.”
Kristen went over to Nana to greet her. “Thank the deep ones you are here. Could you tell me what exactly happened?” Kristen said. Nana gave the Lune a nod. “Of course, I can if you step outside with me.” All three adults, including Kristen, Phil, and Nana, stepped outside to discuss the events. Tom looked sheepishly at Whisper, who was now wiping their eyes of tears. Tom wasn’t sure what words to say to the upset kit, but he could try. “Hey, um…it’s ok. it just-”
“TOM”
Well, that was short-lived. It was time to face the storm as Tom faced his angry Lune. The anger was now directed at him
