Hiccup Haddock is a former scientist of the RDA, who discovers his invention had been used against the Na'vi. He then reveals to the tribe a secret RDA outpost where he had worked before. After a successful raid against the outpost with several RDA personal taken prisoner, including his father, Stoick. Seeing his only son aiding the Na'vi, Stoick renounces Huccup, saying that he is not his son. Hiccup then flees the site on Toothless.

Three months later, Neytiri and his mother, Valka find him back at his outpost on the floating mountains. Neytiri tries convincing him to come back, but Hiccup is refuses. Having to cause death on both sides. But Neytiri tells him that war is coming and that the people need him. Hiccup tells her that he doesn't wish to be involved in the war. Valka then steps in. She reminds Hiccup of something she had taught her when she was younger. After leaving for Hometree, Hiccup comes to his senses and returns to the Na'vi.
