Her having golden hair is a trait in the family where if born with it, the user will have very strong magic, in which case light and dark magic that Medea practices responsibly. Sadly, her family is toxic, sexist, and pretty much all the negative aspects of rich folk, so they hated the fact as a female she got these powers, instead of a male. As well as her being outspoken, and not afraid to speak her mind. And being true to herself instead of fake. 2. There was three people in her family who treated her well despite it all; her mother Bianca, her father's first wife who died when she was five (Bellerophon and Percy's father is the child of her father and his second wife).
