WINTER COATTT by manul-mania on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

been on a worldbuilding grind with my anthros lately

my animal characters, while being very anthropomorphized and like people, are still very much animallike mentally and physically. some species (like wolverines!) often grow winter coats based on weather and hormonal changes, and i thought that'd be neat to throw in.

on the bright side, thick-furred animals don't have to layer as much in colder weather. some liabilities are probably the stronger urge to eat as much as possible (cause in the animal world, food's always scarce) despite food being easily accessible through stores and restaurants, being very sleepy (very common in species like bears and groundhogs), and shedding for days when the warm weather comes back around...

anyways, here's Nat with her winter coat! she looks pretty much the same, just a little fluffier and with some slight color changes.

i'd picture her being quite moody (more so than she already is) and quite aggressive when it comes to grabbing something to eat. if you're eating a sandwich or something, she will snatch it straight from your hands and devour it on the spot without apology. this is bad news for her friends, because that means she will constantly beg them to take her to the convenience store down the road so she can take their entire stock of pizza and chips (while they pay lmao)

working with animal characters is honestly so fun when you start thinking outside the box. if you have anthro characters but think they're missing something, i strongly suggest deep diving the basic facts and biology of their species, and maybe throwing in some educational content in the meantime. it's so worth it
