Fairy tale Designs by Marcusstratus on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Last term I had an Intro to Apparel Design class and in it I pretty much learned the process that goes on to make a garment, from consumer research to designing to development and manufacture to marketing etc. etc.

The final project was to make up a company in our groups (of 3 people) and then come up with a clothing line. My group chose to have a company that made fairy-tale-like clothing and I was the one who drew all the designs for our design board (other boards include the consumer research board, materials board, colours board, retail space board, advertisement board, etc.

I was thinking of various stories like Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Rumpelstiltskin, etc. Clothing features include enlarged buttons to give the illusion of small people, wings under coats to make it look like the wearer has wings, lots of lace, clothing that looks like it's made of leaves and other foliage (like the leaf boots, the vest, everything the fairy lady's wearing, etc.).

We decided our competitors would be companies who make historical clothing, steampunk clothing, eccentric clothing like *Lastwear, and especially companies like Laforet Harajuku in Japan. We'd be the American version of that company.
