Sonic the Hedgehog. Hm. You know, I don't ever really think about this franchise. He's just one of those characters that are just permanently pasted to popular culture.

Pretty much every other character (except Eggman) is inconsequential to the franchise as a whole. Even Tails lacks any impact nowadays. At least when it comes to the cast of Mario, recent mainline games have put you in control of at least a few of them, including Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Rosalina, and even Toadette. The Party and Kart games let you play as almost everybody. Modern Sonic, despite having a massive mainstay cast, leaves Sonic to do most of the work. Tails' last solo game was on Game Gear, which most of you probably don't know what that is. Luigi's Mansion 3 is coming out soon.
