I have been wanting to go over this for a very long time. For some time, I started to “hate” Sonic, or feel negative towards the series. It kinda has to do with the current direction of the franchise and of course the garbage fanbase.

Before you get the wrong idea, No I don't hate the Sonic series, I actually really love Sonic, I just hate the way the series is now. I still love the older games, mainly the Sonic Adventure games.

Okay let's begin, shall we?

I hate the cartoony, kiddy feel the series has now. It feels like spongebob or looney toons. There is so much memes and self-aware crap and Classic Sonic nostalgia pandering, it just bothers me. I hate Sonic Boom and I just can’t stand it. I find the TV show unfunny and just really boring. I know it's not canon to the main series but I just can't stand the show. It's an unpopular opinion I have. I just can't find any enjoyment from anything Sonic Boom related.

I kinda find Sonic Mania is overrated. It's a fun game of course, but I hate it when people keep praising it like it's the second coming of Christ. It's those dumbass game critics who ruined the game for me, they act like its "he best Sonic game in 25 years" which is complete bullshit. I hate the Sonic Mania and TSR youtube shorts. I do not understand why people enjoy them so much. It struck me as just painfully generic silent comedy that went out of its way to feel pointless. There are those stupid meme faces which just bother the hell out of me. To be fair they can be charming and cute but I just don’t like them.

I really disliked the Sonic Movie. It didn’t feel like Sonic tbh. It’s just a generic kids movie and Sonic’s design and behavior just bothers me. I don’t like this Sonic, it just isn’t my Sonic. That one part where Sonic was doing the stupid fortnite dance just pissed me off.

Even the IDW comics, which are more serious, I dislike. I don't like the style of them and I just find them mediocre. They are so incredibly boring and pointless. I hate the way Amy and some other characters are. I didn’t like the Archie comics either. I don't like any of the Sonic comics at all.

I hate the writing of recent Sonic games, all of the characters are one note and it's just a crappy sitcom instead of the badass anime writing of the past Sonic games. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to hire the Happy Tree Friends writers to work on Sonic?

Sonic is too inluenced by western meme culture nowadays.

I miss the badass and cool anime style the series used to have in the Sonic Adventure games and 2000s Sonic games. It used to be like Yu-Gi-Oh mixed with Dragon Ball. It fit Sonic so well. There was no memes or self aware comedy bullshit back then. It actually took itself seriously. Sonic had the cocky, badass, confident, high octane heart of gold teenage shonen action hero interpretation established from 1998-2009. Sonic going super Saiyan while Crush 40 plays is just badass. Shadow was a really cool character. He reminds me of Jin Kazama from Tekken. Shadow is a quiet and introverted dark, shonen anime character who cares about his friends and does what’s right. There was also Silver, who was literally Trunks from Dragon Ball. I always played the games in Japanese because the voices were better imo. There was just something special about that era.

Worst thing about Sonic is the fanbase, I hate Sonic fans, especially on Twitter. It’s full of young kids and teens. Most of them are very annoying and unfunny. They always spam unfunny memes. A lot of them are also just fucking assholes. I got fucking attacked because I didn't like the Sonic Mania Adventures shorts nor the meme faces. It was hard and traumatizing. I fucking hate Sonic fans. It has ruined my enjoyment of Sonic. They remind me of those annoying fucking western cartoon fans. Nintendo fans are also just as toxic.
