Archaeologist Josh Phelps found a silver amulet with an embedded iridescent opal while exploring an ancient underground temple. Putting it on, he is transformed into the superhero Mercury! The amulet liquifies and flows over his muscular body, clothing him in his heroic costume. The opal centered on his chest is the source of his powers. He can run at superspeeds with enhanced endurance and strength. He can make liquid mercury-like metal flow from his hands, and when he concentrates it can be formed into strong solid metal constructs - like metal balls, throwing blades, a shield, etc. However there is a limit - the more mercury he creates, the weaker it becomes.
