Description

The Gobots. The inferior Transformers. At least when I was a kid growing up. Leader-1 was a cool F-15 fighter jet, but was a wuss compared to Optimus who was a cool semi tractor trailer big rig! And Cy-Kill was just a funky motorcycle whereas Megatron was a rad gun! And then there were the sound effects for each franchise where I would bet more people in my generation would recognize the Transformers transformation sound effect versus the Gobots changing. And Zod compared to the Dinobots? Come on! It's interesting how hard marketing worked to sell both franchises, but what may have been a selling point to a salesman was a weakness in the mind of a kid. Or the complete opposite. Anyways, the Gobots did have something the Transformers took a while to catch up with. Female protagonists and antagonists! Where Transformers finally got a regular fembot in 1986 with Arcee the Gobots started out immediately with Crasher. And when 1985 rolled around the Transformers had one episode featuring fembots and another with young Elita-1. That's it until the movie and then season 3 in 1986. Japanese continuity is a different matter. Meanwhile the Gobots pushed out Smallfoot, Pathfinder, Snoop, Vamp, Sparky and depending on the fiction Spay-C and Spoiler. This leads us to my posting today.

Finally got to the baddest bitch in the Gobots universe. I actually started with Crasher in my designs, but couldn't decide on which way to go in regards to style. After doing the other Gobot fembots I established my take on their designs and was able to go ahead with Crasher here. The first pose in my mind was her slamming her foot on the ground for her "special move". Unfortunately for me this has been done all over by other artists before me. To the point it would be cliche. But I still wanted that pose. The result is above. One could add the energy trail to her right foot or just view her standing in a predatory pose. The difference between the toy and the cartoon design was minor if we ignore the face. The only thing I really upgraded was her thighs and folding the front end of the car down along her back. For more details check my designs posting in my watcher's only section. I gave her fangs and talons to push that she is evil. I also didn't add a glow around her eyes unlike the other Gobots I posted since she actually has visible snake pupils. In the end it was really tough coming up with a unique, but faithful rendition of Crasher without using what others have done before. I do like how she came out.
