Today marks the introduction of Shadow and Rouge into the gaming world, 22 years ago! <3 So, today kinda counts as their anniversary, double meaning intended

I never played the games back when I was younger, so this year also marks my dive into the Sonic games and to be fair, I love it. It is so funky, and has this fantastic "It is ridiculous and hilarious, but also so incredibly cool" mix that I love. The older superhero-movies had the same vibe. It is just the best!

The introduction of Shadow and Rouge into the games is also the point of the "dark era" where Sonic really gets more serious. Sonic Adventure (1) really qualifies more as a "kids" game (also serious, but just different), while the second instalment cranks up the difficulty and darkness. During the years, there has been hits and misses with the games, but somehow almost all of them have something endearing and quirky that makes them worth your time. I'm mostly a 3D-fan though, so while I tried the 2D games, I mostly stick to the 3D instalments. I also hope team Dark will get a place in the newer games, and not just on the sideline (like Forces.....!.), and rumours are that it will come in the near future! Already exited!

Background is based on the SA2-Battle Gamecube cover, and which has them both on display! I also think it is funny that translating back then wasn't the same as it is now: my Netherlandisch manual calls the hedgehogs "Stekelvarkens" = "Porcupines" x)
