I actually do live on an island, with loads of often deserted beaches within an easy drive. Living any dustance from the ocean seems very alien and disconcerting yo me. OTOH I also love mountains and snow, and whereas its a pretty mountainous island, we're not talking about the sort of heights you're otobably used to.
