Fossil Ammonites by missie-mandelbrot on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Created using Ultra Fractal.

Haven't sat at my PC for over a month now and taken the time to create anything. Besides decorating (which turned into more of a renovation job), I'd pretty much given up creating fractal art for good. Realised that after 2 years, fractal art had taken up every corner of my life and had become such an obsessive addiction, it was time to let it go. That was until earlier this week. It's taken a couple of days to get started again. At first I just couldn't create anything. A little perseverance and several days later I created this image.

I used "Big Brew Julia" (tma2.ufm) for the fractal formula in combination with Samuel Monnier's "Platonic Solids" mapping transformation (sam.uxf) with the shape set to dodecahedron. I also used different combinations of the following colouring algorithms for each layer:

"Popcorn Plasma"
"Gnarly Orbit Traps"
"Triangle Inequality Average"
"Statistics"
"Harlequin"
"S.F.B.M. II" for texture (noise function - octogons; mode - convolution)
"Gaussian Integer"
"Hoops and Tubes"

I've also created a pre-fossillized image, which my daughter says it reminds her of Prawn Cocktail, bless her. It's rendering away and if it turns out OK, I'll upload it too.
