The most striking thing about your self-portrait is the sense of connection I get with you when I look at it and in a self-portrait that is perhaps the most important thing, that connection.

Your pose helps in this respect. With a self-portrait, you are telling the viewer about yourself. Your closeness to the camera is showing your honesty and your forward lean is showing your confidence. But your eyes are saying something else and I'm not sure what. This is what they call the viewers portion. Its my reward for looking at the image, something for me to think about, to try to understand. ...very good

Technically, its a great image. The light is soft and natural, your focus is great and you are picked out nicely against the black background. You couldn't realy improve on that, its great.

Apart from your pose, your composition is spot on. You are placed nicely in the frame, both your eyes are on or near the upper thirds points and your lips on the lower thirds line. Cutting the top of your head off is not an issue. I try to get close in and chop heads all the time. Its a great portrait technique to do this.

Your hair is amazing <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/> and you have a great look. The hardware and tattoos bring something extra to the shot also, and those freckles are just awesome <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>

I read a quote recently "...a girl without freckles is like a night without stars".

And thats about all I can say, a brilliantly posed and taken self-portrait. A self-portrait that says " this is me".

Well done Zoe,
