The nearly all-powerful forces of good and evil, the Ellimist and Crayak are locked in a game of control over the welfare of the entire galaxy, their pawns being anything from single creatures to entire alien species. The Ellimist plays to ensure all life can live and grow, while Crayak to destroy.

The Drode is the minion of Crayak, a vile being in his own right 'blessed' with a fraction of his master's power. Although the Drode is totally loyal, Crayak is willing to replace his minion for a better one in a heartbeat.
