Being very lucky to have one of my favorite Frogs sitting in a spot where we could properly photograph it

Species: Tonkin Bug-Eyed Frog or Vietnamese Mossy Frog

Latin name: Theloderma Corticale

Originates from northern Vietnam and China, and possibly adjacent Laos.

Current status: Least Concern

Did you know:

…One of their common names, Mossy Frog, arises from the fact that its skin resembles moss growing on a rock with its mottled green and brown, offering an effective form of camouflage.

…When frightened, the Tonkin Bug-Eyed Frog will curl into a ball and play dead.

…Though considered Least Concern by IUCN, the are threatened by habitat loss and the (illegal) exotic pet trade.
