Such an iconic Duck, and this is the first proper photo we've managed to take of one I am happy though, that smaller zoos make it possible to see them and photograph them well.

Species: Red-Crested Pochard (Krooneend)

Latin name: Netta Rufina

Originates form southern Europe to Central Asia and Mongolia, wintering in the Indian subcontinent and Africa.

Current status: Least Concern

…The species is sexual dimorphic; the male has a rounded orange head, red bill and black breast with white flank, a brown back and black tail. The female however is mainly pale brown, with a darker back and crown, and a white-ish face.
