(Shakespeare vs Sophocles)

These two tragic heroes have been compared to one another for ages, especially after the works of Sigmund Freud were published. These two royal anti-heroes search for the killer of a king, only to become kingslayers themselves (or, in Oedipus's case, discover that he was the kingslayer all along). Their actions cause massive collateral damage and end in tragedy for themselves and their loved ones. They also may have a thing for their respective mothers (Confirmed in Oedipus's case, unconfirmed but a very common interpretation in Hamlet's case).
