I didn't expect to see Simon join the battle. Well, until Nintendo accidentally revealed Castlevania music the night before he was released. (Whoops.) Also, I'm not too surprised by his inclusion. He was another popular choice, especially in the Smash Ballot and the Casltevania series have a long time relationship with Nintendo. If Konmai was to get a second representative from their company series, it was either him or Bomberman, though I would've love if both of them were playable. Also, his reveal trailer was incredible even if it costs Luigi's life. I love how he plays in Smash Ultimate and I love the design they went with him.

I actually don't play as Simon as much, but I play as Richter a lot when Smash Ultimate finally came out on my Switch. I like his design even more, I like his personality, and I like how slightly different in how he plays. That being said, I don't play him as much competitively and I don't see them being one of my mains. But as always, they're fun to play as. The holy water is a great trick to bust out when the opponent gets too focused and it helps to keep range with the whip attack. The cross and axe both hit way harder than you expect and while I don't get much use of the uppercut it's fun to land to hit with it. The real thing that tripped me though is that he has a tether recovery but its not on z like other tethers (like Samus, Young Link and others). I didn't know all I had to do was attack midair to grab the ledge when I first started playing him. Who knows maybe I'll improve on playing Simon or Richter based on the bread and butter combo game.
