Being the resident opera ghost has to be exhausting, right?

If you have ever had a cat, you know that they remain perennially unacquainted with the concept of personal space, ergo Ayesha napping on Erik's (bony. ouch!) back. Also, I love the idea of Erik having tons and tons of fine art all over his house, some that he's "collected" (read: pilfered), some that he's painted/sculpted himself. Just covering the walls like the portraits at Hogwarts. He'll look at any face but his own. Including Poe's, apparently. And I put in a nod to Beauty and the Beast with the wilting rose. Yay, allusions!

Also, yes, that is Christine in ancient Egyptian attire. And as a mermaid. I'm sure Erik considers it the act of painting his muse. Christine probably considers it the act of Peeping Tom-ism.

I needed an excuse to draw an elaborate Victorian couch. Again, I imagine furniture like this all over Erik's house, some that he made himself, others that he somehow smuggled into the cellars. The idea of Erik having a sprawling, elaborate mansion under the opera with no one being the wiser is hilarious to me. I was never keen on the idea of him pitching a tent in a glorified cave. He's too fussy for that. I keep picturing the rooms with high, vaulted, cathedral-esque ceilings and priceless works of art and Christine just gawking at the whole thing wondering how the heck he managed to sneak all of that several floors below ground level. I can't possibly work out how that would be possible either, but the imagery makes me laugh.

Argh, I haven't had time to color anything in ages, so my gallery looks decidedly bland at the moment. I can't wait until winter break so I can add some life to this, color-wise! One day, I want to draw Erik's whole house. The way I picture it is probably architecturally impossible--at least for a home situated underground--but artistic liberties always win, right?

Phantom of the Opera belongs to Gaston Leroux.
