I CAN ACCESS DEVIANTART AGAIN ON COMPUTER. YAY. SUP. I'm alive. But my VPN didn't work on my computer (China blocks dA) So I've been on a big trip through China, and just yesterday I arrived in Kyrgyzstan. I'll be horse riding through the mountains and staying in yurts, and hopefully hunting with falcons. I had some ... disturbing experiences in China which I'll update later when I have time. Anyway, sorry if I've been AWOL. I am alive.
we hit 300 watchers š most of 'em are inactive, but hey, i never thought i'd get this far. Requests from the collective? I can't promise anything as my workflow and quality are wildly inconsistent, but I'd like to celebrate the occasion in other, sadder news .. those who've seen my recent art might know about Lily .... it'll probably be time to say goodbye in less than two weeks, so ... uff, a hug would be nice
Kia ora e whÄnau me ngÄ tautangata! Hello fam and strangers! I'm writing little lessons in te reo MÄori (the language of the MÄori) for my engineering discord, and I thought I'd share them with the world. I'm not MÄori, and I'm just a beginner in te reo so if you're more knowledgeable do correct me! The MÄori culture is known as "high context" which means communication relies on a lot of cultural context to understand. (English is "low context"). So, lemme give some context. The MÄori The MÄori are indigenous to Aotearoa (NZ; "land of the long white cloud"). They arrived ~1200AD from the Pacific Islands in 7 great waka (canoes). To this day, when individuals formally introduce themselves they name which waka their ancestors arrived on. General NZ Culture Once upon a time the government tried to kill te reo (the language), but nowadays, a bit of te reo is found everywhere in NZ. You hear "kia ora" all the time, and in formal settings, MÄori introductions, welcomes, and karakia
Idk if anyone's interested but I'm gonna do a journal series on how to speak te reo MÄori
