The idea is based on my very complicated feelings towards the cheese phone... 
When it first appeared on the show, at that moment... It felt a little TOO silly that Splinter would have an actual, WORKING telephone in the shape of a huge cheese in the dojo. 
So this is my head canon! 
It's the only way I can accept its existence. 
(Also, this is my first thingy done completely in PaintTool Sai! 
I'm starting to get why this little guy is so beloved~
