let’s say this drawing takes place during, i don’t know… their honey moon? or after a very long separation? after a congress? or when he left for his obligations as governor? (well… at some point, letters are not enough -YEAH THESE LETTERS YOU BURNED THOMAS! *forever frustrated*-) so she is wearing a nightgown very historically inaccurate, i know, and has her hair down because they are just about to “go to bed”. And yes, he lifts her up. Out of character? Probably but i couldn’t resist: he is tall, she is short… it’s effortless!
