So if any of you had seen the concept sketch of Shizuka that I posted today, you might have noticed that I mentioned something about an animal that lives exclusively on the Lapis Islands... Well, meet that animal! :D

YES! There is a FIFTH breed of Hydrakon in the world! :la: And wow are they ever colorful! So much so, that I was too lazy to shade them here. XD But I think they look fine without it anyways. ^_^

Unlike other Hydrakons which are shy or aggressive, the Kailans are very peaceful and curious. They love interacting with dragons and other beings, making them very easy to tame.

Here are some more Hydrakon facts:

~Like all other breed of Hydrakons, their blood has a toxin in it that, when sprayed on a dragon's body will cause the dragon to see things that aren't really there. They see what they were looking for or are trying to find even though it isn't real. The blood has to be washed off in a mineral pool otherwise the effects remain. Normal water will not destroy the hemotoxins in their blood.

~A thriving Kailan clan is usually about 5 - 9 members and they live in family units. This makes their family bonds very close and they will defend one another without hesitation. Mothers and fathers have also been known to morn the loss of a pack member for weeks on end.

~Though they are carnivores, Kailans will often try other food types. They seem to like more citrus fruits like oranges, pineapples, mangoes, and kiwi fruit. They will also eat baked goods that would not be found in nature. The seems to especially enjoy the taste of sweet bread.

~HYDRAKONS ARE NOT DRAGONS! They are more like large cats, similar to tigers and lions in anatomy and behavior. Their young are born alive, they have fur, and they are warm-blooded. So don't call them dragons!

Well I hope you guys like them! :D If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

OH! And they come in two other color schemes, but I will post those as digital re-colors of this drawing, as it took FOREVER to color. :XD:
