Submission for this Month's entry to . I wanted to do something mermaid themed, I really love the story of the Little Mermaid (the original story, I like the Disney one too though). I have done a few mermaid paintings in the past, but I don't think I've ever put them online before.

Ok, so here are some terrible details about this picture, I spent so much time on this because it was giving me so much trouble. The hair was all messed up, I originally had it white, but it was hard to see the details and I ended up going with the half pink/white hair. I (over)worked the details of this and dealt with the never ending battle for me (outlines vs no outlines). After being in a pretty good place with it I brought the file to my main computer because I was working on it on my laptop and I wanted to see it on a regular monitor before submitting it. Its a good thing I checked, because pretty much everything looked white (including all of her skin, so it was indistinguishable from her hair) and over saturated. All details and shading was lost and I had to recolor everything. I still couldn't get the colors quite right, it had seemed softer and more delicate before... I am very happy with the end result, I just had an idea in my head before I started and it didn't really come out as planned. Lesson learned, no more coloring on my laptop, sketching only.
