Borealis Sea by Nimiszu on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Bring me out to sea, under a sky of falling lights.

In a quiet corner of the world rests the frozen-over falls that reflect the night’s lights with ease. They’ve remained still, yet unbelievably radiant, for centuries. Under this sky the land lay quiet, before coming to life at the activity of living beings passing through. Those familiar green lights would dance overhead as if coming together with this sea in the sky. The aurora carried words from the endless sea, dating back countless years prior. What kinds of thoughts could be brought out so far, like a message from a bottle?

Super inspired by the falling lights in Llassie’s #friidtiys challenge, I wanted to take on this concept by bringing it in with some lore from my worldbuilding!

Some of you may be familiar with how much I’ve been into the northern lights lately, so I couldn’t resist this lovely challenge! I still can’t get over how I talked to them about wanting to see the aurora, on the same night I saw it for the first time myself :XD: 💙 What a coincidence that would lead into this piece!
I was also inspired by suncatchers and reflected light towards the end of this painting, hence this one becoming so shimmery— and am now looking forward to seeing how I can bring this into future works!
