Pray for... humanity. by Nykterios on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

It is difficult not to place oneself in one place, regarding the recent scale of violence between Palestine and Israel.

It is difficult, from my knowledge of history, not to place myself in a place when certain speeches only show part of the story.

It's not much different from "talking about Spanish heritage month" when Spanish heritage also involved the slave trade from Africa to America. And when that inheritance also meant the death of millions of indigenous and African inhabitants in situations of slavery.

In this work I am not interested in reflecting intentional speeches that only show part of the story. I just want to show a little idea. The things that unite us.

What if instead of thinking about the origins that separate us, we don't think about the things that can unite us?

In the image presented here, you can see the attempt to represent two friends, one with a clear Palestinian origin, and the other with a clear Israeli origin. Hugging. In the middle of the typical landscape that a war can leave behind.

Excited to know that the other is safe, aware of the bond that unites them, beyond all political and racial differences, lying and hate speeches.

Think of our common humanity.
