FYI : These are NOT the characters' normal outfits! They are cosplaying as anime characters from a series called Slayers!
(a few people entering the art contest going on right now seem to think Lamia normally wears that bikini/cape combo... she does not ;

I took a poll a while back to help support FaLLEN in the polls above, and the winner for what anime cosplay should Arma and Lamia do was Slayers, surprisingly. For those of you who don't know, these two are the two main characters from my ongoing webcomic FaLLEN, which I post to dA and on my website. Arma is dressed as Lina Inverse (and may actually have smaller breasts than Lina!) and Lamia is dressed as Naga the Serpent (and honestly, the outfit looks a little TOO good on her...). Lamia, Naga... aren't those both serpentine creatures of mythology? Now that is a fun coincidence.

I always loved Slayers, particularly Slayers NEXT and the OVAs with Lina and Naga. Naga was great. For all her bustiness and disregard for clothing, she was surprisingly not a very sexy character. Her boob jiggling and boisterous laughter just made me crack up. Oddly enough, the very very very first time I saw Lina was on a magazine cover in a store and I thought "God, Japan, can you make her boobs any bigger?" Yeah, I thought her boobs were huge, and in the show of course they laugh about how small they are. But really, her breast size varies throughout the franchise, depending on who draws her I guess.

I am a big fan of the original artist who designed the Slayers cast, but the TV series did not do his art justice. His work is very '90s but I still really enjoy flipping through his artbooks from time to time. I think he's the rare kind of artist here in Japan who really lets comedy and the characters' personalities decide what he draws, instead of just going for constant beauty shots of everyone. Many of his illustrations are self-contained jokes or scenes, and I just love 'em.
