Judy in Nick's new shirt (light version) by OH-Shoot on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

So, It's almost the end of the month and I realised that:

A: I haven't done my monthly fanart (busy month).

B: I haven't done any art yet on my new super fancy drawing tablet.

C: I haven't done nothing to celebrate Zoo 2. Thus, to rectify this I killed three birds in one stone. Plus done the first ever 'Judy wears Nick's shirt' fanart with Nick's new Shirt!

D: Heck, done the first two, a light version, and one with a darker background, mood and quick attempts at lighting and more intense shading.

As for using a draw-on tablet... It's been interesting starting to get used to it. It was slow drawing at first simply due to being rusty doing anatomy, but warming up it IS faster. It also default pushed much softer -I've had to change from my charcoal brush to a mix of pencils for linework. But watercolouring and painting feels SO much easier now.

Shading... -Well, one picture has more basic shading (this one), but I tried playing about with lighting and such for the moodier piece (only a lighter play around -it was late and this was always going to be a quick piece). -It's still the area I want to do a bunch of work on, but who knows. I have some ideas for moodier pieces in the future. Still, I'm happy and excited.

I might come back to this and have another go at the shirt colouring, the actual shirt as seen is fairly blurry as I've drawn here, but there's other arts with much more clear prints, and that may work better. -At the same time, the more I do art the more I realise that my watercolour styling tends to work best with much lighter palates, whereas I'm often finding myself doing darker/ moodier pics with darkness and lots of lighting. But hey, adapt, test, improve. And I still like these two pieces. I'm curious which ones people prefer, the light or dark one. Feedback always appreciated.
